But I didn't start out this way. For nearly a decade, I worked as a full-time Governance and Budgeting expert at the World Bank, where I advised more than 30 countries on how to improve their budgeting practices. It was interesting and challenging work, and it took me to some fascinating places where I worked alongside the top decision-makers in government. But ultimately I decided to pursue a different path in life. We left Washington, DC and my wife and I moved to Canmore in the Canadian Rockies, where we married many years ago. The suit, tie, and briefcase has been replaced with adventure clothing, camera equipment, and hiking backpacks. Our two young children have the mountains as their playground.
My photography aims to capture moments that amaze, inspire, and educate. I strive to be different, to make the extra effort so that my photos stand out and have a deeper significance. But it's more than that. It's also a means of connection and an obligation. When I am immersed in nature, I feel most aware, most at peace, and most connected to the wild. With connection, however, grew an understanding that I had to act. I realized that all of my favorite animals were threatened or at risk of extinction. I could no longer stay on the sidelines...
I founded The Wildlife Collective to be a voice for wildlife and a voice for conservation. Together with other professional wildlife photographers, we teach you how to be better conservationists and how to be better wildlife photographers. We advocate, campaign, and work directly with our conservation partners to make a difference. Our motto is conservation first, always. Click on the image below to learn more.
